A few muses with pegasus
Being able to express oneself clearly through the depiction of poetry and the creative arts is important to Greek culture. Pegasus, who created the Hippocrene, or fountain spring, permanently left his mark on the arts and expressive literature (SunBlind). When Pegasus was young, he was transported by Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, to Mount Helicon. Upon arrival, he hit the ground with great force to create two great springs,  the Hippocrene and another spring in Troezen (Wright). When one drinks from the Hippocrene, they fulfill the embodiment of art and poetry, which instantly fills their body. From this myth, the Greeks were able to succeed in passing on generations of poetry and cultural art, due to Pegasus' contribution on Mount Helicon. Furthermore, the nine muses present on Mt. Helicon greatly enjoyed Pegasus and the fountain which he happened to create, showing that the creative arts are greatly appreciated in Greek culture (Lesikar). Since the nine muses are the "providers" of this kind of literature, the acceptance of Pegasus and his connection with art and poetry provides a staging ground for many Greek poets and the works they write, contributing to the fact that devotion to the arts is a great quality to share in Greek culture and mythology.
